Atlantic Information Services Dec. 19 Webinar to Review Just-Ended MA Annual Election Period   By PRWEB

Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 10, 2012

How did Medicare Advantage and Part D plans fare in the Annual Election Period (AEP) that ended last week and why? What experiences did MA and Part D plans have in both the individual and group markets? Which marketing channels were most and least effective? Which products were the most and least popular? And what does it all mean for 2013? In Atlantic Information Servicess Dec. 19 webinar, MA and Part D: Annual Election Period Trends and Outlook for 2013, a three-person panel of experts will examine the major trends in the just-completed AEP and what they portend for 2013.

The 2013 AEP for Medicare Advantage and Part D posed unprecedented challenges and plans took unprecedented steps to deal with them. MA and Part D sponsors had to go head-to-head with record levels of political advertising and market their products within the new compressed schedule that started last year, when the evidence showed sales and enrollment in the initial weeks were slow.

In this Dec. 19 webinar, coming just 12 days after the end of the AEP, Timothy Lightner, director of senior markets sales for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Roger van Baaren, director of Medicare marketing and product management for Independence Blue Cross, and Bonnie Washington, senior vice president at Avalere Health LLC, will dissect the 2013 AEP experiences and put them in the context of what they mean for MA and Part D plans and their partners for 2013. In 60 minutes of presentations, followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session, webinar attendees will learn:

  • What did AEP experiences in the individual market show about marketing-channel preferences? What were the most popular products and plans?
  • What were AEP experiences in the group market? How is the evolving role of private Medicare exchanges affecting that?
  • Which specific marketing strategies worked? Which didnt? How big of a role did star ratings play in marketing and sales?
  • What are the lessons from the AEP for member-retention efforts, including education and outreach?
  • How will the election results and payment changes under the reform law affect the MA outlook for 2013 and beyond?
  • How will benefit offerings change in this environment of intensified cost pressures?
  • What will plans have to do differently to prepare for the AEP for 2014?
