Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County Presents Klezmer and Kabbalah: Expressions of the Jewish   By PRWEB

The last four days of November are the perfect time to enjoy a feast for the senses and an intellectual experience at the Merage Jewish Community Center's School of Lifelong Learning program Klezmer and Kabbalah. According to Geri Dorman, Merage JCC PrimeTime Adult Director, When you participate in the Jewish Lifelong Learning series you will not only expand your mind, you will be in the company of other people who believe that learning is one of the best parts of life. Yale Strom and Daniel Harris are so knowledgeable and so enthusiastic about their topics. They are excited to answer your questions, hear your opinions and share in your experience.

The School of Lifelong Jewish Learning runs from November 27 through November 30th and includes seminars, continental breakfast and lunch. The cost for the entire program is $136. Reservations can be made online at the Merage JCC website or by calling the JCC at 949-435-3400.

Yale Strom is the world's leading scholar and musician of Klezmer and Roma music and history. His research was instrumental in forming the repertoire of his klezmer band, Hot Pstromi, based in New York and San Diego. Since organizing his band in 1981, he has composed original New Jewish music that combines klezmer with Chasidic melodies and other musical motifs. In addition he has composed original music for theatre, film and television. Yales thirteen CDs run the gamut from traditional Klezmer to "new" Jewish jazz. In 2006, he was appointed artist-in-residence in the Jewish Studies Program at San Diego State University. Strom has also directed eight award-winning ethnographic documentary films, and written twelve books including his new book Shpil! The Art of Playing Klezmer. Yale will play the violin to demonstrate Klezmer music throughout the ages.
