New English Editing Business Launched as English becomes the Global Language of Education   By PRWEB

(PRWEB) October 10, 2012

English is becoming the global language of education. The pressure to learn English is intense: scholars face pressure to publish in English to reach the widest possible audience, universities are competing to attract the best international students and faculty; and students want to study an English language degree to be competitive in a globalized, English friendly job market.

Universities with global ambitions have no choice but to adopt English as the language of tuition. Italys leading university, for example, recently announced that it is switching all its degree courses to English rather than Italian. The globalization of English was the trigger.

"We strongly believe our classes should be international classes - and the only way to have international classes is to use the English language," says Politecnico di Milanos rector, Giovanni Azzone. "Universities are in a more competitive world, if you want to stay with the other global universities - you have no other choice".

English is already the language of business, media, entertainment and computers, and is the functional language for innumerous things, from air traffic control to global jihad.

However, the rise of English as the global language of education presents unique problems for students and academics. A common fear is that non-native English speakers will be disadvantaged compared to native ones. Another is that the quality of work will suffer if academics and students are forced to use a second language.

One practical solution to these fears is English editing. An editor receives an essay, thesis or paper by email, and makes corrections for style, expression, word selection, sentence structure and of course spelling and grammar. The aim of the exercise is to produce a piece of work that sounds as fluent as a native-English speaker.

Global English Editing was launched this week with the intention of becoming a market-leading English editing service for students and academics. The interest in English editing for non-native English speakers in the university system is growing exponentially, says co-founder, Brendan Brown. Professional editing services help students and academics achieve their academic goals, and we expect demand to increase substantially over the next couple of years.

Global English Editing has offices in both Australia and the United Kingdom but is global in its outlook.

Mr Brown co-founded Global English Editing on the basis of a simple principle equality for non-English speakers. We believe that every student should be judged by the quality of their ideas, and not their English language skills. By offering an English editing service, were leveling the education playing field.

Mr Brown says that by editing the work of non-English speakers, they dramatically improve the quality of their work. English as a second language students and academics, with help from an editor, can produce an essay or thesis every bit as impressive as their native-speaking peers. By expressing themselves clearly, they get judged on what youre saying, and not how theyre saying it.

English language editing is a service that will grow considerably in the future, as more and more universities switch to English tuition. However, not all editing services are equal, and its important to choose a trusted one that produces great quality for clients. Be aware of the charlatans, swindlers and overpriced editing factories out on the Internet, its crawling with them. Make sure theyre editing professionals that specialize in helping non-native English speakers, Mr Brown says.
