ST. LOUIS (AP) The parents of an Illinois toddler who drowned in a lake more than two months ago face child endangerment charges.

Thomas and Emilie Pinski are accused of letting their 2-year-old son, Lukas, and his twin brother routinely wander from home through a basement window.

Lukas was found unresponsive and submerged May 2 in a small lake near the family's Edwardsville home. Authorities say he and his twin wandered from home. Lukas died four days later at a hospital.

The Pinskis are charged with endangering the life or health of a child, a felony. They also face misdemeanor child-endangerment counts for what Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons said was allowing the children to live in "filth and squalor."

Thomas Pinski says they disagree with the allegations and will fight them.
