Sonnet's Echo Express Pro Thunderbolt-to-PCIe Expansion Chassis Receives ProSoundNetwork Best of Show Award at 2013 NAMM Show Breakthrough Solution Brings Pro Audio Production Capabilities to Any Mac(R) With Thunderbolt(TM) Port
At the just-concluded 2013 NAMM Show in Anaheim, Calif., Sonnet Technologies' Echo(TM) Express Pro Thunderbolt(TM) Expansion Chassis for PCIe(R) cards received a coveted Best of Show Award from the editorial staffs of Pro Sound News and Pro Audio Review magazines. The award recognizes the best new products making their debut at the NAMM Show.
"We were very excited to be making our first appearance at the 2013 NAMM show, and to receive this honor was real validation that the Echo Express Pro delivers tremendous value for audio pros," said Greg LaPorte, vice president of sales and marketing, Sonnet Technologies. "As NAMM attendees were able to see firsthand, the Echo Express Pro is designed to make audio and music engineers' lives easier -- simply by enabling them to use the Thunderbolt-enabled portable computers of their choice through integration with a host of complementary pro audio PCIe cards and technologies."
At the 2013 NAMM Show, audio pros Jim Roese and Sean Householder demonstrated solutions based on the Sonnet Echo Express line of products. Roese showed a cost-effective, highly portable solution he developed for on-location audio workflows that integrates the Echo Express II chassis with two Lynx Studio Technology AES16e-50 PCIe cards (each with an AES50 port), a MacBook Pro(R), and a Midas PRO1 console. Roese has successfully applied this solution in numerous high-profile music events, including last fall's Blondie/Devo "Whip It to Shreds" concert tour. Householder, a professional music producer, engineer, and songwriter based in southern California, demonstrated how he is able to build a seamless, highly portable audio recording and editing workflow with just the Echo Express Pro chassis, two Avid(R) ProTools|HDX PCIe cards, and a lightweight MacBook Pro.
Today's ultralight notebook, mini, and all-in-one desktop computers now have tremendous processing power, close to that found in full-size desktop computers such as the Mac Pro(R). Although their portability is highly desirable, these smaller computers lack expansion slots to install specialty cards -- designed for use in desktop computers -- to connect various audio and video inputs. Sonnet's Echo Express Pro solves this problem by connecting two PCIe expansion slots to any computer with a Thunderbolt port to enable the use of compatible PCIe expansion cards.
