On March 15, 2013, Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) is sponsoring a one-day Financial Literacy for College and Career Readiness seminar that is open to all teachers, administrators and other professionals who provide financial education to middle school and high school students. All New York State teachers will receive a certificate of completion for six (6) hours of continuing education credits.
Held at TFCUs headquarters in Hauppauge, the training seminar will provide resources for teachers to strengthen their role as effective financial literacy instructors. The financial planning program is a turnkey financial literacy program specifically focused on basic personal finance skills that are relevant to the lives of pre-teens, and young adults. The financial planning program supports teachers and community organizations as they help youth build a solid foundation for financial independence and decision making. The key presenter will be outstanding educator, Susan Gubing, the author of Games 2 Careers and a leader in education consulting.
TFCU is committed to sharing the latest resources and methods of instruction to help teachers prepare students for future employment and give them the ability to make sound financial decisions, said Robert G. Allen, TFCU President/CEO. Our financial literacy seminars and programs have been held at schools through Suffolk and Nassau Counties.
