The Hun School to Build New Academic and Dormitory Building By PRWEB

The Princeton Zoning and Planning Board voted to approve The Hun Schools Global Commons Building on June 21, 2012. The multi-use space will feature state-of-the art classrooms and dorm rooms and is scheduled to open in late 2014. The School reports that it has received $5.76 million in donations toward the project, with estimated costs projected at $8.5 million.

The Hun School expects this building to be an epicenter of global education, facilitating rapidly emerging educational initiatives global studies, interdisciplinary education, and 21st Century skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork already taking root on campus. The building will feature classrooms designed for group work and multimedia presentations. It will be equipped for teleconferencing and provide instant access to the latest technologies.

We need to equip our graduates to thrive wherever their lives carry them on this deeply interconnected planet. To succeed, we challenge ourselves daily to build a new foundation for global education and leadership, said Headmaster Jonathan Brougham.

The Hun School has long been distinguished for its diverse international resident and day community. Current students hail from twenty-one different countries and fifteen states. More than twenty new dorm rooms will provide the School with the space it needs to meet the growing demand for admission. Applications rose 60% in 2011, and another 20% in 2012.

The building will also feature a café, store, student center, and meeting rooms, designed with international flair. Its central location, between the dining hall, existing dormitories, and main academic building, will encourage even greater mingling between day and resident students throughout the day.

We are fortunate to have a number of dedicated parents and alumni who have stepped forward to make leadership gifts in support of the Global Commons, said Assistant Headmaster for Advancement Andrew Hamlin. We have to raise another $3 million. If all things go as planned we will begin construction in the spring.

The Hun School of Princeton is a co-educational, independent college preparatory school in which student-centered learning is encouraged within the context of traditional curriculum, preparing its students for the global community in which they will live and work.
