London, UK (PRWEB UK) 21 November 2012
Virgin Media today raised the curtain on a fleet of movie-themed Super-vans, set to appear across the UK as the companys top engineers deliver Virgin Medias range of next-generation digital services including TiVo® and up to 120Mb superfast broadband.
The new vans are inspired by some of the best-loved vehicles from the big screen including Thunderbird 2 International Rescues famous aircraft piloted by Virgil Tracy and Ecto 1 the spook-fighting Cadillac made famous in Ghostbusters.
The Thunderbird 2 Super-van was seen launching off the ground and over a queue of traffic from its top secret base to celebrate the keys being handed over to the drivers of the new super fleet. All the new vans have been specially designed and commissioned by Virgin Media for its top performing engineers who consistently deliver exceptional levels of customer service.
The film-tastic fleet also features the Jurassic Park jeep, the Batmobile, speedy Lightning McQueen from Cars and Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots in Transformers.
The vans will now travel the length and breadth of the country, delivering Virgin Medias cutting edge digital services to British homes as well as to businesses with Virgin Media Business. The latest additions to the fleet join the inaugural Super-vans launched last year which included General Lee, the Dukes of Hazzard modified Dodge Charger and Disney favourite Herbie.
Mark Palmer, a Virgin Media engineer and now the proud driver of Thunderbird 2 said, I am a big fan of the Thunderbirds, so being able to drive around in a van themed like Thunderbird 2 will be amazing! I cant promise Ill be dressed as Virgil Tracy or that I am the Brains behind Virgin Media but I can certainly help to deliver our range of great products and services to customers. If anyone sees me, they should definitely give me a wave.
Maurice Daw, executive director of access at Virgin Media, said: We are really excited about the latest additions to our super-fleet, we know how proud our engineers are when theyre driving around in these bespoke vans. Although they wont be fighting ghosts or worrying about avoiding any T-Rexs we are confident they will make our customers smile!
Notes to Editors
To launch the new fleet of Super-vans, Virgin Media hoisted the Thunderbird 2 van using a crane and heavy-duty supports. To convey take-off, film quality smoke effects were also used along with Thunderbird 2s very own pilot Virgil Tracy.
The Super-vans will be delivering TiVo and superfast broadband as well as all Virgin Media services from the beginning of November until February 2013.
The tailor-made Super-vans have been awarded to top performing engineers in the following areas:
· Renfrew, Uddington (Scotland)
· Walsall, West Midlands
· Bradford, Yorkshire
· Warrington, Lincolnshire
· Brentford, London
· Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Not all customers receiving an install will be guaranteed a themed van; install by one of the fleet will be dependent on availability.
