SUBJECT: scaling causes bad rips in video
You have to deinterlace your footage (under the INTERPRET FOOTAGE dialog box) making sure you choose the right field dominance for your capture device. Then reinterlace your footage when you render it out, also making sure you choose the same field settings as before.
It will still look like crap, but it won't jitter on traditional sets. That's just the way DV is.
