SUBJECT: exporting 3d elements separately to after effects
KEYWORDS:
I have a camera animation in c4d and 3 3d elements.  I want to create an animation in AE that would require me to mask off each element separately.  I could probably do this via masks against the rendered .mov file but I was hoping there was a way I could export each object as it's own ae layer?  I've tried the compositing and external compositing tags but I either end up with just the flattened animation or some null objects representing the position of each element.  Is there a way to do this?  Thanks.
