You can certainly use any 3rd party app that can extract the iTunes backup in order for you to get the files within. However, I would suggest that you use iPhone Backup Extractor. It works on all iOS devices (iPhone, iPod, iPad) and has different versions to match your OS (Mac, Windows, Linux).
