I seem to have a rather serious problem with my Maya 6.0 file. I am currently working in wireframe mode. When I switch to shaded mode (hotkey: 5) I get the following error message:

"Fatal error. Attempting to save in C:/xxxxxxxxx/xxxxx.ma" and then the file closes.

I have tried copying all the objects into a new scene, importing the scene into a new scene, freeing up disk space, hiding objects using layering, and running the file on different computers.
(The file is 9MB).
Why is this happening?
It would be very much appreciated if anyone could respond with a possible solution ASAP.
