Make sure that you are using the ASIO drivers for the MBox. Use the Options | Preferences | Audio Device tab to check. Your latency should be set with the Advanced | Configure buttons and it should be around 5ms (256 samples).

Also make sure that you are making your recording as a One Shot. Go to Options | Preferences | Audio and under ACID type for recording audio make sure it is set to One-Shot. If that doesn't help, try unchecking Enable track buffering which is on the Audio Device tab.
