SUBJECT: Registering SF Pro 10.0 after demo
The following experience may be of interest if anyone is out there. Having loaded the SF Pro 10 demo in mid September, it having later expired, I un-installed it. Later (after 10.0a cured the odd bug) I decided to purchase it (package, not download). Installed it frrom the package and clicked on the new icon. The resulting screen was "Your demo has expired ..." message with provision to enter a serial number - which I did. A little message said the program would now restart to complete the upgrade. It did and up comes the message "Your demo has expired .." After several times round the loop, including uninstalling and re-installing, I gave up and called Sony Support. The first response: a clean install deleting ALL sony programs (I have a few) and all installed dependencies and updates (.NET 2.0, etc.)and purge the registry.

After providing some frank but constructive feedback about what I thought about this course of action, two new alternatives emerged. Run the program from right-clicking the icon, and select Administrator mode (a password hiccup prevented this), or via right-click and Properties, address the "Compatibility" Tab and run in in another mode. I chose Windows 2000 (I have XP Pro) and bingo, there was the Registration Wizard.

No, I can't explain it either, but I thought some may find this course of action (a) amusing and (b) possibly useful.
