There are no other capture options for it.
Hard drives are so cheap these days that it makes no sense to convert to any other format as you lose quality the moment you do that (unless it's a lossless format in which case the files are even bigger).
AS far as cleaning up your videos, the Canopus will do some of that for your analog video.
After that, it depends on how much you want to spend.
NewBlueFX has various offerings that will help.
If it's particularly noisy, then give Neat Video a try.
