SUBJECT: converting HDV files
KEYWORDS: HDV AVCHD .m2t converting
There is a lot of talk about how bad / highly compressed .mov, .m2t files etc. are, being only 8 bit 4.2.0 etc. Cineform says they can make 10bit 4.2.2. Gear shift says they can make 4,2.2 YUV color space etc. I have used cineform (its a PIA to use) the files double or more in size, the GUI is teeny tiny small and kindergarten in appearance and confustion and I honestly cannot see any advantages or improved quality for the amount of work and space needed from either program. My computer is a powerful Gateway FX i7, 16 Gb RAM, tons of disc space and Vegas rarely crashes. So what am I missing here? Let's put this issue to rest and get on with making good movies.

Would someone please clear the air and tell me if my Sony Z5 and Canon 5D files need conversion in vegas 11 or not. And if so, what should I see for advantages and improvements
