You need an NVidia Quadro FX 3800/4800/5800 or GTX 470 (or GTX 200series and hack the CUDA file) to use the Mercury playback engine.  I've got the 3800 is oone machine and a 4800 in another and really don't see what I gained with the far more expensive 4800. 3800 is fine.

RAID storage is a must for HD work.  I haven't had any hiccups with XDCAM HD 422 so your XDCAM EX will work fine.  BorisFX 64 bit RED and FX will be available anyday now.  Also, Sony Vegas handles XDCAM HD very well.

Thx Peter for ur comments. So u think I can use FX3800 instead of FX4800 graphics card. I think it's about A$1500 less for 3800 card...

What do u think about th RAID 5 systtem with 3X600GB SAS Hard Drives(15,000rpm - as the have quoted)

From what I've read and experimented with, it appears the amount of CUDA cores and the power of the CPU to be able to keep the CUDA fed is what determines the RT performance of the MPE, not how expensive a card or its graphics capability beyond its ammount of cores, I've got a 4800 in a graphics workstation and a GTX260 in a editing workstation, I've swapped them out and the performance is about the same, both have 192 cuda cores, I've also put a 470 fermi in the same machine, and got increased performance,  but not what you can get in a machine with a hotter CPU

Thx Brian for ur comments. Probably I will down graded to FX3800..I will save some money by doing so..I will down grad the to FX3800  if there is not much difference in processing..
