I use Pinnacle's Miro DC 50 and DV 500 capture cards on different computers. Anytime I try to render a Bryce 4 animation the program crashes after rendering the first frame. This happens when I use the capture cards' compression codecs.

personally, when I render an animation, I always send the output to individual PICT files (that'll be bmp on the PC).

that way, if there's a power outage or some other problem, I don't lose the whole anim, just the one frame it was on when the problem occurred. it can then be restarted. this is not true when rendering out to a movie file.

after you've got all the frames, use some other utility to assemble them into the movie format of your desire.

I second what Calyxa has said- rendering to frames is THE best way to go.

And it's best to use standard compression CODECS for the final animation. Hit my website and take a look in the Bryce Tutorials area- I just added some goodies and links to some sites that may be of help.

Thanks for the reply. I'll still need to sort out the animation part though. I suspect it has someting to do with the pinnacle codecs.

Thanks,
