SUBJECT: Can't Import Anything
For some reason, when I try to import an object in version 5, I get the message "An unexpected Error Occurred (Invalid Format)." This occurs with any file I'm trying to import (3D objects and images), regardless of source. I can't even load anything from the Bryce Content CD. (If I click the "check format" button when trying to import, I can't see any files at all, including files on the Bryce CD.)
Has anybody else encountered this problem? Do you have a workaround? This is the Mac OS 9 version running 9.0.4 on a G4, 300 MB RAM allocated (tried VM on and off) to the application, oodles of hard drive space available, QuickTime Pro 5.0.2. All my other applications are working fine. Tried reinstalling Bryce on a different drive, same problem. This is the full retail package, not an upgrade.

I'm trying to save Bryce files and get the unexpected error code also. The only thing I found is the following quote from the DAZ website: "Frequently Asked Questions QUESTION: Generic Failure when Saving Bryce® 5 Files on Windows® XP Home ANSWER: This will occur if trying to save files while logged in with an account that has limited user rights. The solution is to run Bryce with an administrative account. Bryce was never designed to run with limited user priviledges." Does anyone know a way around this? I'm in a school lab and all log-ins have limited user priveleges. Thanks

Hi Rick,
I have had similar problems when importing objects into Bryce 5. (I have a G3 Mac). The problem could to be that the way certain files are created (3DS, OBJ, etc) might not be fully compatible with Bryce. I have tried models from different sources with varying degrees of success. My suggestion is to try other models from other sources/vendors/formats, or try a file convertion utility such as 3D exploration from Right Hemisphere (www.us.righthemisphere.com) and see if that corrects the problem. Good luck.
