SUBJECT: VSO Convert x to DVD - issues with audio/video sync
Hi, I'm a novice DV/Firewire user who is trying to transfer DV recordings from DV cassettes using a ADS Tech Pyro 1394 PCMCIA card and a Startech Firewire/DV end cable to the harddrive, using Microsoft Windows software Movie Maker Pro. I'm limiting the captures to 3 video choices, DV-AVI, "high quality video (ntsc)" and "high quality video (large)". The source video was filmed straight to DV cassettes at LP or SP mode on a JVC DV camcorder (model #GR-D770U) I'm using VSO Convert X to DVD to make the DVD files (vob) from the avi/wma files that Microsoft Windows Movie Maker made (Ultra DMA 2 is on) on a laptop with plenty of HD space and with no other tasks/software running. I've been playing the VOB files (dvd) from the harddrive that VSO made using VLC Media Player, to test the dvd before I burn a dvd. This is where the problem is. The DV-AVI file on the menu plays ok, but I can't make 212 mb files from 1 min of video. The "high quality video (ntsc)" video is not syncing with the voices, and none of the other ones are. I just checked the source files, and they're good. No sync problem. I play the "high quality video (ntsc)" file from it's original file, a .WMA file, and it's good, no sync problem. When the test works, I'll use Verbatim discs. Obviously, the sync problem is introduced from VSO. What's going on? Is this a problem with a specific version of VSO? Is there a setting I missed or need to change? The PCMCIA card came with Video Studio 9. Have you had this problem? What software do you use - or would you use? Maybe one of you can recommend a better capture software or dvd making software than what I'm using. What should I use instead of VSO?
