SUBJECT: Colour Pickers now available for Photo XL 2.29
I've recreated the two Satori Colour picker/mixers for users of Satori Photo XL 2.29 and added them to the Colour tutorial athttp://www.animation-backgrounds.com/tutor6/t06p02.html
People had difficulty using the 64 bit versions in a 32 bit program. Upgrade! It's a steal at the price Spaceward are asking!
Enjoy sloshing all those colours around, Michael

Michael Hirsh's color picker files can be made even more versatile by cutting sections from one layer, then decreasing the opacity of lower layers.
Using this method you can keep the original colors (though not the section cut out) of your primary layer(s)while at the same time using lower layered colors. The color combinations are amazing and they're also fast and easy to make.
I've found using a half circle cut out of one of the corners works best. Adding additional cuts in other layers makes for even more functionality but it may take time to get the hang of it. Don't forget to play with the opacity of each layer to add to the color combinations.
Great tool Michael. Pat

Pat, Have you tried playing around with the Layer Composition methods, too?
Try Multiply, Tint and Shade for extra fun!!!
All the best, Michael

Michael,
No, I'll give that a try too. I have tried using single colored background layers though. If I want colors just a little darker, add a black layer and decrease opacity.
In "shades" your current default is black & white. By making a new layer that is black and turning off the other layers, then decreasing the opacity of the layer you're working on, the shades can be decreased as little or as much as you want.
ie: Using "Shades", reduce opacity of violet to 40%, add a black layer. Turn other layers off. Very slowly 'increase' the opacity of violet.
To add more spice, change the black layer to red, put opacity of violet at 100%, then 'decrease' its opacity very slowly.

Pat, I'm really glad that my little colour picking tool should stimulate so much debate and experimentation.
I too have started inserting interstitial flat colour layers to provide a dominant hue to the palette. Doing this, I find it really easy to extend the range of the current colour layer. It just shows what a versatile format the Satori canvas file can be, even when it is not the main picture.
Keep on mixing and playing! Michael
